# Is it possible to recover an expired transfer for a sender?

Once a sent or received file transfer has expired, the file(s) are permanently deleted and technically not recoverable.

With a TransferNow account, you can choose to keep your file transfers for up to **365 days**. Unfortunately, there is no need to create an account to reactivate a transfer that has already expired.

We do not retain files or practice hidden file retention once a transfer has expired, so there is no point in contacting support to retrieve files from a transfer that has already expired.

To keep your transfers active for up to 365 days, you can create a **TransferNow Premium** account or **higher**.
