# How to determine a specific transfer storage region ?

Determining a specific storage region for transfers enables **compliance with local data protection regulations**, such as the RGPD in Europe. By storing files in a specific region, you guarantee that data remains in jurisdictions with appropriate privacy laws.

To do this:

1. Click on the “Dashboard” link at the top of your screen;
2. Then select “Administration”, available from the side navigation of your “Dashboard”, then “Transfer settings”.
3. In the “File storage and availability” tab, you can choose a specific storage region for you and your users. You can also define the number of days before a transfer is deleted.
4. Click on “Save” to save your changes.
