# How do I create and obtain a simple sharing link?

Share your files via a download link in just a few simple steps:

### 1. Select your files or folders

Go to our homepage and click **"Start"** to choose the files or folders you want to share. If you select a folder, its structure will be preserved in the transfer.

### 2. Generate a transfer link

* Select the **"Create a link"** tab.
* **Enter your email address**: This allows you to receive a summary of your transfer, along with a management link to track downloads or delete the transfer if needed.
* **Add a subject (optional)**: This information will appear on the download page to help identify your transfer more easily.
* **Customize your link (optional)**: By default, the link will look like this: https[:]//www[.]transfernow.net/dl/ID_TRANSFER.

You can modify it to create a more recognizable link, for example: https[:]//www[.]transfernow.net/dl/my-custom-link

### 3. Start the transfer

Once you have filled in the necessary details, click **"Transfer"** to begin uploading your files.

### 4. Retrieve and share the link

Once your transfer is complete, you will receive a confirmation on-screen with your download link, ready to be shared. A confirmation email containing the link will also be sent to you.
